Hi there!

I’m so grateful to Abba for another opportunity to write to you, to humbly share what He has laid on my heart. For indeed without Him, I am and can do nothing.

A few weeks ago, I woke up and as I laid on my bed, I started ruminating on a thought that in my opinion, perfectly coincides with the season God has me in.

Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank. (Acts 9:8-9 NKJV)

Jesus had just appeared to Apostle Paul (then Saul) on his way to Damascus to fulfill what he believed to be his life’s goal in service to God (We can’t claim to serve a God we don’t know). He’s knocked off his feet with these words “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest” and after the instructions, Paul’s life is no longer the same. He stands up blind.

Hold Up!

Wait, what’s happening here? The word of the Lord just came to a man. A word that should bring light, illumination, joy even comes with supposed darkness and helplessness. Paul went from being a man who led others and showed incredible strength to being led and having to depend on others.

Why? I asked the Lord. Why did Paul have to be blinded as He waited for the next step/phase? Meine Damen und Herren, I received no clear answer on that day. A few days later as I washed the dishes, I started to come to an understanding by the Holy Spirit of how a season of silence/blindness can be protection/training.

You see, God in His mercy can allow us to go through such phases to build our faith. A season of waiting, a season where all you have is the word He gave you with which you must wrestle especially because everything in those moments will appear opposite to what He said to you. When our sight is taken away figuratively, we learn to zero in on what truly matters, do away with distractions and subscribe ourselves to the necessary diet that can birth God’s destiny for our lives. A season where you reconcile yourself to one school of thought alone “The School of the Spirit“.

Till Jesus is All We See..

A similar thing happened to Zacharias in Luke 1. The word of God came to him by an angel and left him in a state opposite from what one would think.

And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you [a]these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time. (Luke 1:18-20 NKJV)

I can imagine that in the months that followed, Zacharias would have had only one option: to learn to esteem God’s word above any limitation his natural eyes could see. Till your mouth learns to echo the heart/will of God always, till your whole body conforms to His truth, till every fear/doubt/limitation disappears and all you see is the way of the Lord and you submit to it. That is the School of the Spirit.

Conclusion!

Let’s look at what happens in verse 63-64!

And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, “His name is John.” So they all marveled. Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God. (Luke 1:63-64 NKJV).

Immediately, Zacharias learnt by training to submit to God’s plan above all else and to do away with every limitation of his futile mind, His mouth is opened and God is able to trust Him to speak His truths without compromise or fear(Luke 1:60-79). Dear Friend, this is what God wants to do with you and I.

There is a blessing in such a season. The enemy may try to lie to you that Abba has forgotten you, that you’ll remain there forever but stand firm on the Word of the Lord and proclaim it boldly! What is most important is that God makes of us a people He can trust. We will stay the course, we will finish this race by His grace!

I’m praying for you dear Friend. Till I write to you again.

Shalom!
